About Us

Loretta and Ian Saunter

Many years ago as a young French Studies student I was lucky enough to spend my year abroad living and working in Nérac, a small but beautiful historical town in the Lot et Garonne. Such was my love for this magical part of South West France that I vowed one day to return for good.

As an already experienced Airbnb Superhost, the decision was easily made to move to France from the UK to pursue our dream of establishing a Chambre d’Hôte in the Lot et Garonne. We quickly fell in love with our Barbaste village house which was built in the 19th century and a former cork factory and after twelve months of renovations, La Maison 64 opened its doors in early 2022.

Although it is our home, we are delighted to be able to share many of the spaces with you to make your stay enjoyable. Whether for a couple or nights or for a longer stay, you will always be very welcome. Your host Loretta is a fluent French speaker and is happy to make reservations on your behalf if desired.
